The Alphabetics of the Baker - Our daily bread is a special commission by Bawwaba section. Based on previous works that documented movements performed by bakers and confectioners during their work (Glaze 2020 & The Alphabetics of the Baker & The Confectioner 2021), ‘The Alphabetics of the Baker’ present an iterative performance where the ‘alphabets’ are translated into bread shapes.
During Art Dubai 2023, Moza Almatrooshi bakes each day some of the 35 alphabets, thus realizing all of them by the end of the fair. The breads include some ingredients derived from the bakeries that informed the gestures. At the end of the daily performance, the bread is shared with visitors.
