Firetti Contemporary and Hunna Art Gallery present Aidha Badr’s solo exhibition I’m Never Coming Back this September at the city’s beloved Alserkal Avenue. An exhibition that focuses on the liminal space of transformation, one that goes from daughter to mother, I’m Never Coming Back captures the vulnerability of a person’s becoming. The paintings explore motherhood, paying attention to its ability to change, define and potentially disorientate the woman.
Badr’s artistic exploration of mother-daughter relationships is not a new venture; her earlier works delved into themes surrounding girlhood, examining maternal relationships from the perspective of the curious daughter. However, her new series marks a significant turn. As a mother herself, Badr now approaches her art with a deeply personal lens, using her creative process to intimately explore her own experiences and emotions in this exhibition.
