Water has long been the throughline in Mashael Alsaie’s practice. What can it hold? What does it remember? How does it slip between states, between body and land, between memory and myth? In her work, water operates as material, method, and subject, a way of thinking through time and transformation. Now based in Riyadh, a landlocked city in the heart of the desert, the absence of water has shifted her focus towards the built environment and landscapes shaped by extraction and change.
