One flower leads to another, petals entwined in a quiet embrace. This watercolor, inspired by three native Kuwaiti blooms, finds its home on handmade Amalfi paper from Italy—a delicate union of nature and craft.
Alymamah Rashed is an artist whose work resonates with the rhythms of her natural surroundings. In this piece, she captures the fleeting beauty of Kuwait’s spring, immortalizing it through flowers gathered along her daily journey—from her commute to work, through her neighborhood, and on the island of Failaka.
Rashed is drawn to the Ruby docks (Humaith), the golden Rhanterium epapposum (Arfaj), and hibiscus blooms found across Kuwait, Italy, and France. Each flower unfolds to reveal its essence, conjuring a metamorphic celebration of spring.
With each leaf's gentle caress of its petals, the spirit of every bloom is preserved, creating a garden of everlasting spring.
