Abu Dhabi Art Fair 2025 : 'Focus: The Gulf Region'
Hunna Art returns to Abu Dhabi Art in the 'Focus: The Gulf Region' section with the works by three women artists from the Arabian Peninsula — Alymamah Rashed (Kuwait), Joud Fahmy (Saudi Arabia), and Zayn Qahtani (Bahrain).
Their practices converge around materiality, ecology, and embodied storytelling, offering intimate reflections on how bodies and landscapes intertwine. Rooted in the Gulf’s environments and mythologies, each artist engages distinct materials — from painting and sculpture to bio-based media — to explore the resonances between self, land, and culture. Rashed’s surreal anatomies evoke shifting Kuwaiti ecologies through a feminist lens; Fahmy’s labor-intensive sculptures reclaim women’s agency through tactile resilience; and Qahtani’s experimental works transform organic matter into speculative cosmologies. Together, their practices form a multi-vocal narrative attentive to ecology, identity, and cultural reinvention. The booth becomes a site of resonance where human and more-than-human worlds continuously mirror and transform one another.
